16-Year-Old Boy Shot Dead in Apartment Hallway Tuesday Identified

CHATHAM — A 16-year-old boy was discovered shot to death in an apartment hallway in Chatham early Tuesday morning, police said.

At 1:07 a.m., police entered the apartment in the 800 block of East 83rd Street to find the boy unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

He has been identified as Tysean Rollins, of the 8000 block of South Ingleside Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Rollins was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Estrada said. He was pronounced at 1:52 a.m., according to the medical examiner.

Police said Rollins was a documented gang member.
