RAVENSWOOD — Spiteful Brewing nabbed a pair of gold medals at the recent Festival of Barrel-Aged Beers, and beer lovers will have a chance to taste what all the fuss is about when the brewery begins distributing its award winners this week.

Though many of the rare beers in competition at the festival aren't produced commercially, look for Spiteful's Belligerent Bob Barley Wine and Malevolence Chocolate Caliente Russian Imperial Stout to hit the shelves wherever Spiteful is sold.

The beers earned gold in the barleywine/wheatwine category and specialty strong porter/stout category, respectively.

"We're thrilled to be delivering these beers around Chicago this week, and hope you enjoy them as much as we do," the brewery posted to its Facebook page on Monday.

The festival is hosted by the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild but is open to breweries from across the country. Competitors at the 2015 event came from not only the Midwest but as far afield as Oregon, Washington, Pennsylvania, Florida and California.

Best in Show went to Bloomington, Ill.-based Destihl for its Dosvidanya Russian Imperial Stout.

Half Acre earned gold in the classic beer style category. Other Chicago-based medalists included Metropolitan, Revolution and Goose Island.
