Man Follows 9-Year-Old Girl in South Chicago, Police Say

CHICAGO — Police have issued a community alert about a man who tried to follow a 9-year-old girl in South Chicago.

At 8:16 a.m. Friday, the girl was walking in the 8800 block of South Buffalo Avenue when the man approached her and started following her, police said. The girl was able to get away unharmed, police said.

The man is described as a "very skinny" black man in his 50s with a dark complexion, with unkempt gray and black hair, a gray and black beard and mustache, and standing about 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-6, police said. He was wearing a black jacket and green pants.
