CHICAGO — A young child was in critical condition after being hit by a car in Grand Crossing on Wednesday.

At 1:45 p.m., the boy was in the 7100 block of South Wabash Avenue when he ran into the street and was hit by a car, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, Chicago Police spokesman. The driver stopped and police are investigating, Sweeney said.

The boy was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition, Sweeney said. He did not yet have information on the boy's age.
