CHICAGO — Police are asking South Shore residents to be on the lookout following a "dramatic increase" of home burglaries in the area.
There have been 19 incidents of home burglary since Oct. 21 in South Shore, primarily between 76th and 79th streets between Yates and Colfax avenues, police said in community alert.
In the incidents, robbers force their way into homes either through windows or doors before burglarizing the home, police said.
The burglary incidents include:
• Oct. 21 between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the 7600 block of South Phillips Avenue
• Oct. 24 between 6 a.m. and noon in the 7600 block of South Phillips Avenue
• Oct. 24 between 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the 7700 block of South Colfax Avenue
• Nov. 2 at 7:40 a.m. in the 2500 block of East 78th Street
• Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the 7600 block of South Essex Avenue
• Nov. 5 at 1:45 a.m. in the 7700 block of South Phillips Avenue
• Nov. 6 at 11:30 p.m. in the 7600 block of South Essex Avenue
• Nov. 7 between 2 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. in the 7800 block of South Essex Avenue
• Nov. 9 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the 7800 block of South Yates Avenue
• Nov. 11 between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the 7800 block of South Yates Avenue
• Nov. 12 between 7 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the 2400 block of East 78th Street
•Nov. 12 between 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the 7700 block of South Kingston Avenue
• Nov. 12 between 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the 7700 block of South Kingston Avenue
• Nov. 12 between 7:15 a.m. and 6:40 p.m. in the 7600 block of South Phillips Avenue
• Nov. 12 between 7:30 a.m. and 8:50 p.m. in the 2500 block of East 78th Street
• Nov. 12 between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the 2400 block of East 78th Street
• Nov. 13 between 5 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. in the 7700 block of South Colfax Avenue
• Nov. 14 between 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the 7800 block of South Saginaw Avenue
• Nov. 14 between 1 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. in the 7700 block of South Kingston Avenue
Police are asking anyone with information on the burglaries to call area detectives at 312-747-8273.
