CHICAGO — A 24-year-old man was fatally shot in Greater Grand Crossing Friday, according to police.

The man was driving his car in the 7000 block of South Calumet Avenue around 7:45 p.m. when two attackers fired shots, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He has been identified as Rashad Taylor, of the 8200 block of South Buffalo Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office

Taylor was struck in his right ribcage, Pacheco said. His car came to a stop near 72nd Street and King Drive, where a passenger flagged down officers, Pacheco said.

Taylor was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition before he was pronounced dead at 9:08 p.m. Friday, Pacheco said.

He is a documented gang member and was not cooperating with police before he died, police said.

No arrests have been made, Pacheco said.
