ROGERS PARK — Several interested restaurants are in negotiations to take over the entire 7,000-square-foot ground floor at the nearly finished 10-unit apartment building at 1244 W. Devon Ave., Ald. Joe Moore (49th) recently told residents and members of the business community.

The development known as The Apartments on Devon (formerly The Flats On Devon) offers two- and three-bedroom luxury apartments, as well as retail space below. Moore said the project is expected to be completed by the end of the month.

The building was bought by Three Corners Development in 2013 for $1.4 million as part of its plan to develop the neighboring Heartland Health Center.

Across the street at 1221 W. Devon Ave. construction is underway for a new family-owned brew pub, which will also feature condos in the building's upper floors.

It's all part of a strategic plan to bring new life to Devon Avenue, city officials have said.

"The addition of a quality new dining option, together with the addition of ten new households, will contribute to the new life and vitality now underway on Devon," Moore wrote to constituents.

Another building included in the Apartments on Devon project is under construction at 1303 W. Devon Ave.
