COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — Stefon Brown allegedly kicked a police officer multiple times after he was pulled over in a traffic stop in West Garfield Park Saturday, according to Cook County prosecutors.

Brown, 24, is charged with aggravated assault of a police officer and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after the routine stop at 3930 W. Lexington St., according to prosecutors in bond court Sunday.

Brown was pulled over around 1:30 a.m. Saturday when he allegedly got out of his car and fled the scene, prosecutors said. Officers found Brown and attempted to place him in custody but he resisted arrest.

Brown, of suburban Bellwood, began kicking an officer after he was placed in handcuffs, prosecutors said. He kicked an officer multiple times in the chest and abdomen.

Police found a gun in Brown's car and Brown later admitted to owning the gun, prosecutors said.

Brown appeared in court Sunday and was order to stay in custody in lieu of $100,000 bond.
