CHICAGO — They made it.

Patrick Sweeney and Alex Ramsey completed a 900-mile, 20 day running venture from Chicago to New York City in time for Sunday's NYC Marathon. And they both finished the NYC 26.2-mile event, Sweeney in about 2:57 and Ramsey in about 3:10.

The veteran ultrarunners began their trip on Oct. 11 by running the Chicago Marathon — then they kept running to Beverly Shores, Indiana, that day — and arrived in the Big Apple on Friday.

"A journey of peace and perseverance," Sweeney said Saturday. "What a trip this has been."

They were running for the "Walk for Peace" charity, which seeks to stop violence in Kenya and raise money for a "Peace School."
