CHICAGO — A construction worker was killed in an accident at a construction site downtown Friday, according to authorities.

A 38-year-old man was killed at a construction site at 901 S. State St., according to the Chicago Police Department and the Chicago Fire Department.

Fire personnel responded to the scene shortly after 9:30 a.m. Friday, but an ambulance crew never transported the man to the hospital, said Jeff Lyle, deputy district chief with the fire department.

The man was dead on the scene, said Officer Mark Mora, a Chicago police spokesman.
