CHICAGO — Gun violence across Chicago has wounded five — including a 16-year-old boy — since Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

The boy was critically wounded after being shot in Austin at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman. The boy was shot in his leg in the 4900 block of West Monroe Street and was taken by friends to West Suburban Hospital before being transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Sedevic said.

• In other shootings, a 40-year-old man was shot in Gage Park early Wednesday, Sedevic said. The man was walking home in the 5500 block of South Troy Street around 1:25 a.m. when he heard about five shots ring out and was struck in his calf, Sedevic said. He was taken by family to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition, Sedevic said.

• A 26-year-old man was shot in Belmont Cragin late Tuesday, Sedevic said. The man was driving in the 5300 block of West Altgeld Street around 11:25 p.m. when shots rang out, grazing the man's head, Sedevic said. He drove himself to Community First Medical Center and is listed in good condition, Sedevic said. The man is a documented gang member.

• A 28-year-old man was shot in West Englewood Tuesday night, Sedevic said. The man was outside in the 1700 block of West 61st Street around 8:35 p.m. when he heard shots and felt pain, Sedevic said. He was struck in his left leg and was taken by a friend to Saint Bernard Hospital before being transferred to Stroger Hospital in good condition, Sedevic said. The man is a documented gang member, convicted felon and had been previously shot, police said.

• A 26-year-old man was shot in the Back of the Yards Tuesday afternoon, Sedevic said. The man was in a car in the 5300 block of South Justine Street around 4:50 p.m. when he was shot in his leg, Sedevic said. He drove to nearby Garfield Boulevard, got out and ran to the corner of 57th Street and Ashland Avenue, Sedevic said. He was then taken to Stroger Hospital and listed in "stable" condition, Sedevic said. The man is a documented gang member, police said.

No one is in custody for the shootings, Sedevic said.
