CHICAGO — A suburban woman has been charged in connection to a robbery that left a man blind in one eye, police say.

Makiah Burns, 18, of Hazel Crest, is charged with armed robbery and attempted armed robbery, according to police. Prosecutors said Burns, a Loyola University student, was the driver for the robbers, who used a pellet gun, according to the Tribune.

In one of the robberies, a 33-year-old man was walking in the 2000 block of West Concord Place at 10 p.m. Oct. 5 when a man and woman said they were robbing him, according to police. They took his wallet and laptop, and as they fled they shot the man with a BB or pellet gun, grazing his eye.

There were two similar robberies that day.
