EAST GARFIELD PARK — A 17-year-old was shot to death on the West Side early Saturday, police said.

Around 4:10 a.m., the teen was riding in the passenger seat of a car in the 3900 West Ferdinand Street when someone started shooting from the street, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The teen was brought to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after being shot in his neck and face, Sedevic said.

Police said he had documented gang ties.
