WOODLAWN — A 17-year-old was shot in the side Wednesday night in Woodlawn, police said.

Around 7 p.m., the teen was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in an unknown condition after being shot in the 6400 block of South Ellis Avenue, according to Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Police could not immediately provide any other information about the shooting.

No one is in custody, Gaines said.
