UPTOWN — There's a little something for everyone this weekend in Uptown — from volunteering to dubstep at the Aragon Ballroom.

Here's a list of happenings around the 'hood this weekend:

Friday

Day of the Heads Opening Reception: Head to Everybody's Coffee for the opening of an exhibit that blends science and art by featuring 17 compartmentalized human heads made from found objects. The exhibit runs through Nov. 6. 935 W. Wilson Ave. Free. 6-8 p.m.

Flux Pavilion at Aragon Ballroom: Check out live performances from Loudpvck and Brillz at the show headlined by dubstep DJ Flux Pavilion. The 18-and-over show begins at 9 p.m. Tickets are available here. 1106 W. Lawrence Ave.

Saturday

Clean Up Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary: Spend your Saturday morning keeping the Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary and Magic Hedge beautiful. The day's tasks include: weeding invasive plants, mulching the paths, removing dead trees and trash removal. 4400 N. Lake Shore Drive. 9 a.m.-noon.

15th Annual Jazz Brunch: The African American Arts Alliance invites you to their annual brunch, which this year includes guest speaker Maggie Brown and music from the Robert Reddrick Trio. The event will feature networking with "movers and shakers in the arts" with food catered by Master Chef Timothy Bellamy. From 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. Black Ensemble Cultural Center, 4450 N. Clark St. Tickets: $22.50 in advance and $25 at the door.

Explore Work of Local Artist: Uptown Arts Center will be hosting an open studio where visitors can see collections of work from more than 10 artists including Jeffrey Littleton, Lowell Thompson, Robert Pockmire, Amber Lee, Bradley Carter, Sara Miller, Jesse Seay, Chris Remele, Colette Wright Adams, Julia Sugden and Laura Wetter. The center will also host the premiere of a site-specific exhibition called "Worn Articles: Heard, Read, Remembered" at its new experimental gallery on the third floor in the second balcony area of The People's Church. 941 W. Lawrence Ave. Free. 5-9 p.m.
