GOLD COAST — Think Washington Square Park could use a makeover? The park council wants to make that happen.

During the Washington Square Park Advisory Council’s public meeting Oct. 14, the council is asking community members to give input on its plans to redo the park. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the Newberry Library, 60 W. Walton St.

“This process will kick off soon and take place over the next several months,” the council said in a statement. “The goal of the planning process is to consider the many ideas and opportunities that exist for the park while developing a good plan to ensure a strong future for this important public space.”

In addition to taking the public’s opinion into account, the process will also include input from the Chicago Park District and Ald. Brian Hopkins (2nd), who are “both aware of and in support of this effort,” the statement said.

The council has enlisted the help of landscape architect Chris Gent and management consultant Alison Zehr to “engage the community and area stakeholders,” according to the statement.
