IRVING PARK — Mayor Rahm Emanuel delivered his proposed 2016 budget to City Council last week, calling for a whopping $543 million increase in property taxes, the privatization of 311, ride-share surcharges and a new fee for garbage collection, among other line items.

Ald. Deb Mell is giving residents of the 33rd Ward an opportunity to weigh in on the mayor's plan during a town hall meeting set for 6:30-8:30 p.m., Monday, at Horner Park, 2741 W. Montrose Ave.

Those unable to attend are encouraged to share their feedback via email at info@33rdward.org or by calling the 33rd Ward office at 773-478-8040.

City Council is also holding budget hearings with the heads of city departments and agencies in the coming weeks. A schedule of those sessions is posted online, to be held in City Council chambers, 121 N. LaSalle St.
