GLADSTONE PARK — There is no longer any excuse to let that boxy television take up space in your basement.

St. Tarcissus Church will host the sixth annual Northwest Side Recycling Day and Green Expo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in its parking lot at 5859 N. Moody Ave.

Unwanted computers, telephones, radios, DVD players, monitors and televisions will be accepted. There is a $5 fee to recycle non-flat screen televisions and monitors, organizers said.

Kitchen appliances will not be accepted, organizers said.

Attendees can also recycle metals, including aluminum, brass and copper.

Document shredding will be available from 10 a.m. to noon, organizers said.

Attendees will get green household cleaning tips, information about raising chickens in your backyard, worm composting and other ecologically friendly initiatives.

Walgreens will be on hand to accept unused medication and offer flu shots.

A rain barrel will be raffled off, organizers said.

Children's activities will also be offered.

In addition, Working Bikes will accept donations of bikes and bike parts.
