CHICAGO — Four people have been shot, one fatally, since Monday morning, policy said.
A 19-year-old man was walking outside in Austin when he was shot in his back and left leg, said Officer Ana Pacheco, Chicago Police spokeswoman. He was taken to Loyola Hospital but died, Pacheco said.
In non-fatal shootings:
• At 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, a 21-year-old man was standing on the corner in the 5800 block of South Pulaski Road in West Elsdon when he was shot in his head, Pacheco said. The victim shouted gang slogans and threw an object at a man's car, and the man shot at the victim and drove off, Pacheco said.
The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, Pacheco said. The man who shot at him was arrested in the 6300 block of South Whipple Street, Pacheco said, though there are no charges at this time.
The victim is a documented gang member, police said.
• At 6:15 p.m. Monday, two women were shot in the 300 block of West 45th Street in Fuller Park in an incident that was possibly related to social media, police said.
A 21-year-old woman was shot in her left arm and a 17-year-old girl was shot in her stomach, Pacheco said. They took themselves to St. Bernard Hospital and were later transferred to Stroger Hospital, where they were listed as being in "stable" condition, Pacheco said.
