Humboldt Park Man Shot Saturday Dies: Officials

CHICAGO — A Humboldt Park man shot Saturday has died, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Twenty-seven-year-old Torrence Bearden was one of two men shot around 7:30 p.m. Saturday in East Garfield Park, according to police. Bearden and a 34-year-old man were standing in the 3400 block of West Flournoy Street when they heard gunshots and felt pain. Both men then ran into a nearby building, where they collapsed, police said.

Bearden, of the 700 block of North Harding Avenue, was shot in his chest and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, according to Officer Jose Estrada, spokesman for the Chicago Police Department.

Bearden was pronounced dead on Sunday at 10 p.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the medical examiner.

The 34-year-old man was shot in his leg and taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, police said.
