KENWOOD — A 14-year-old boy is dead and a 15-year-old boy is wounded following a shooting in Kenwood Saturday evening, police said.

Around 7:30 p.m., the boys were standing in the 4400 block of South Greenwood Avenue when a car drove past and someone inside shot at them, according to Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The 14-year-old was shot in the head, Alfaro said. He was later identified as Tyjuan Poindexter, of the 1200 block of East 46th Street, and was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:01 p.m., according to Cook County Medical Examiner's records.

The 15-year-old was brought to Comer Children's Hospital, where his condition stabilized after he was shot in his leg, Alfaro said.
