CHICAGO — Two people were injured in a shooting on the Dan Ryan Expressway early Saturday, according to Illinois State Police.
The two victims, whose ages and identities were not released, were driving south between 67th Street and 71st Street around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when another car opened fire, according to state police.
The victims exited the expressway and had a friend drive them to Ingalls Memorial Hospital, a trooper said.
Authorities then shut down the southbound lanes of the highway shortly after the incident to collect evidence, a police source said.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
In August, State Police announced they were stepping up patrols and traffic stops after a spike in expressway shootings this year.
