UPTOWN — The Heritage Bicycles Pop Up Shop will announce its temporary arrival in Uptown with a party Thursday evening.

The party will begin around 7 p.m. at the shop and feature beers from the Union Beer Project, food and giveaways. The shop popped up between the Public Barber and Heritage Outpost, 1325 W. Wilson Ave., last week and plans to stay open for "about a month or two," according to owner Michael Salvatore.

In January, Heritage Outpost opened in the lobby of the FLATS Chicago building, but the space next door has remained vacant. So the company thought it'd "be better for the Outpost to have a business there" even if it was was only temporarily, he said.

"We're really just feeling it out. We'll be here a couple months and keep rolling to different areas to see if [they] may be open to the pop up idea," Salvatore said.

The shop, which is open from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, offers a full-service bike shop with a mechanic on duty, Heritage merchandise, clothing, bicycles and bicycle accessories, Salvatore said.
