WEST LOOP — The first ever Rocktober Beerfest — a playful spin on German Oktoberfest — will bring together beer, bratwursts and bands for a weekend of fun in October.

The three-day fest, slated to take place Oct. 2-4, is expected to bring more than 10,000 people to the neighborhood. Rocktoberfest will be staged at the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Union Hall, 1340 W. Washington Blvd. in the West Loop.

Jimmy's Bavarians, Chicago's top traditional German 'Oompah' band; Headbangers Ball; 7th Heaven; Two White Crew; Thank You Ma’am; 16 Candles; Catfight; and Mr. Blotto are all slated to perform.

At the fest, Publican Quality Meats will be serving up beer brats with diced white onion and whole grain mustard; jalapeno cheddar brats with sauerkraut and Dijon mustard; and smoked Creole sausages with white barbecue coleslaw. Goose Island will be offering pints of beer using 32 fermenters and more than 15 different yeasts.

The fest will be open 5-11 p.m. Oct. 2, noon-11 p.m. Oct. 3 and noon-10 p.m. Oct. 4. The event is organized by StarEvents.
