EDISON PARK — Runners can lace up their shoes and hit the pavement Sept. 19 to raise money for Edison Park Elementary School.

The inaugural Pound the Pavement 5K last year raised $6,700 to fund technology improvements and upgrades for the school, organizers said.

The 5K race, which will loop around Edison Park through tree-lined streets, will start at 8:30 a.m. at 6200 N. Oriole Ave.

The course is certified by the USA Track and Field Association and runners will be timed with chips.

A dash for children 7 and younger and a youth run for those ages 7-14 will also take place.

Online registration is available through Friday. The cost is $40 for adults and $15 for children, and includes a T-shirt.

A limited number of spots will be open on race day, but runners will not receive a T-shirt.

Volunteers can sign up online to help organize the race.
