CHICAGO — A man was stabbed to death after a fight in Chatham on Monday, police say.

At 11:34 a.m., a 56-year-old man was in the 800 block of East 81st Street when he got into a fight with another man, said Officer Jose Estrada, Chicago Police spokesman. The other man stabbed the victim in his chest, Estrada said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Derrick Simpson, who lived on the block where he was stabbed.

Simpson was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Estrada said.

Police are questioning a person in the stabbing, Estrada said.
