SOUTH LOOP — Sports bar chain Buffalo Wild Wings will make its Downtown debut this fall in the South Loop.

Constance Williamson, a regional marketing manager for Minneapolis-based Buffalo Wild Wings, said the chain eyes an Oct. 5 opening for the new restaurant at 513 W. Taylor St. in The Maxwell

"It’s just an untapped area for us," Williamson said Monday. "We don’t have a Buffalo Wild Wings in Downtown Chicago, and wanted to reach out to that area of the city and provide them with great wings, beer and sports."

Founded in 1982, Buffalo Wild Wings is one of the fastest-growing restaurant chains in the country. The South Loop restaurant would be the second so-called "B-Dubs" in the city, following a Lincoln Park bar

Buffalo Wild Wings will join stores including Nordstrom Rack, Dick's Sporting Goods, and TJ Maxx in The Maxwell, a 240,000-square-foot retail center that opened last year at 1100 S. Canal St. Rob Bond, president of the Chicago-based Bond Companies that developed the property, said his team sought out Buffalo Wild Wings as a tenant, and that The Maxwell is now about 95 percent leased. The restaurant will sit near the intersection of Taylor and Clinton streets.

"They bring a lot of energy and excitement and think they’ll do a great job of activating the Clinton side of the project," Bond said of Buffalo Wild Wings.
