Here are five cool things to do outside today:

Life Moves Pretty Fast: Your last chance to catch a flick under the stars on the Northwest Side as part of the Chicago Park District's Movies in the Parks series happens at 8 p.m. Saturday at Hiawatha Park, 8029 W. Forest Preserve Drive, with a showing of the Chicago classic "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."

Get Down At The Jarvis Square Rogers Pork Festival: A rising fest in the neighborhood, the Rogers Pork Festival in Jarvis Square will feature food from The Amazing Kale Burger, as well as serving up local barbeque for those who are meat-lovers. More than 20 artists are signed up to sell their wares alongside musical acts, all in an effort to help raise money for the Youth Empowerment Performance Project, an LGBT-focused youth performance group. Plus, it’s free. 1508 W. Jarvis Ave., Saturday, Aug. 29, Food starts at noon, Free.

Feast On Cuisine Prepared by Famous Chefs, Guzzle Wine at First Chicago Food + Wine Festival: It's finally here, folks: the first three-day Chicago Food + Wine Festival kicks off Friday. All in all, this weekend's fest will bring 70 participating chefs to Lincoln Park near Stockton Drive and LaSalle Street. Throughout the weekend, there will be cooking demos, wine tastings and much more. Expect to see a bunch of local chefs like Stephanie Izard, Graham Elliot and Mindy Segal. Tickets are still available, and can be bought online. A day pass will set you back $175; evening events cost extra.

Ad Hoc Playground: Friday is the last night to experience artists taking over Elm Park in Hyde Park. All week the park has hosted sound sculptures, weavings in the park's fence, cardboard fort building and more. But 6 p.m. Friday marks the end of the DIY playscapes. 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Elm Park, 5215 S. Woodlawn Ave. Free.

Listen To The Great Outdoors: Sick of hearing 24/7 cicada song? You're gonna miss 'em in February. Get out there and record the insects while you can. Come the depths of winter, you can enjoy the sounds of summer."
