Eat a Six-Pound Taco In A Bag in Four Minutes, Win $5,000

By Patty Wetli | August 27, 2015 11:49am

LINCOLN SQUARE — Taco In A Bag owners Pat "Deep Dish" Bertoletti and Tim "Gravy" Brown have participated in, and won, their share of competitive eating challenges and now they've created one of their own.

The two introduced the "Kickapoo Joy Juice Taco Trough Takedown" on Thursday's broadcast of WCIU's "You & Me This Morning."

Pay no attention to the goofy name — this challenge is serious business.

At stake: A $5,000 grand prize, available to any amateur or professional who's got the guts to beat Bertoletti's time downing a six-pound version of Taco In A Bag's signature Big Jim Reeves, plus a half-liter of Kickapoo Joy Juice.

Here's what's in the super-sized Big Jim Reeves: one pound of taco chips, three-and-a-half pounds of chorizo country gravy, one pound of pepper jack cheese, and a half-pound of tomatillo sour cream, green onions and cilantro.

And don't forget the Joy Juice chaser.

Bertoletti inhaled the whole food and drink monstrosity in four minutes and 10 seconds, setting the bar for all comers.

Be the first person to out-gulp Bertoletti and the $5,000 is yours. Be the first to come within two minutes of his time, and receive $2,000 for your digestive pains.

Earn Riot Fest VIP or general admission passes by coming within 10 or 15 minutes of Bertoletti's record. Anyone who finishes the taco trough, regardless of time, wins a $25 gift card to Taco In A Bag — assuming they haven't sworn off tacos forever.

Sign up here to take the challenge. Taco In A Bag is located at 4603 N. Lincoln Ave.
