GARFIELD PARK — Police found a 32-year-old man shot to death in Garfield Park on Monday night, officials said.

At 9:05 p.m. Monday, police discovered the man with gunshot wounds in his head and his torso on a porch in the 4300 block of West Van Buren Street, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead, Estrada said.

The man was identified as Tavaris Heightie, 32, of the 5000 block of West North Avenue, by Cook County Medical Examiner's records. He was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m. Monday, according to the records.

Less than a half-hour later, another man was killed and a woman was wounded in a shooting several blocks away, Estrada said.

No one is in custody, Estrada said.
