CHICAGO — Five people were hurt in gun violence across the city since Monday morning, police said.

A Cook County corrections officer was shot in his leg on his way home from work, according to police and media reports.

• Most recently, at about 1:54 a.m. Tuesday morning, a 35-year-old man, on the 4100 block of West Maypole Avenue in Garfield Park,  suffered a graze wound to his back, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The man was in good condition at the scene, Pacheco said.

No other information on the shooting was immediately available.

• Around 12:40 a.m. Tuesday, a 37-year-old man was walking on the 400 block of North Leclaire Avenue in Austin when a dark minivan pulled up and someone sitting in the back seat fired shots out the window, Pacheco said.

The man brought himself to Loretto Hospital, Pacheco said, with gunshot wounds in his arm and calf.

He was transferred to Stroger Hospital, where his condition is now stable, Pacheco said.

• About 40 minutes earlier, a 21-year-old man was walking on the 11000 block of South Vernon Avenue in Roseland when he heard gunshots and felt pain, Pacheco said.

The man brought himself to Roseland Community Hospital with a gunshot wound in his back, Pacheco said, and he's now in stable condition.

• At about 4 p.m. Monday afternoon, a 20-year-old man was walking on the 12200 block of South Normal Avenue in West Pullman when a man walked up and shot at him, Pacheco said.

The man was brought to Christ Memorial Hospital, where he's now in stable condition with a gunshot wound in his right leg and a graze wound on his left eye, Pacheco said.
