CHICAGO — A 48-year-old woman was shot twice in Uptown Saturday night, police said.

At about 9:30 p.m., the woman was standing on the 5000 block of North Kenmore Avenue when witnesses heard four or five gunshots, according to Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

A friend drove her to Weiss Hospital and she was then transferred to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she's now in stable condition with two gunshot wounds in her stomach, Sedevic said.

Police said the woman is a documented gang member, and they believe the shooting was drug-related.
