By Tanveer Ali | July 31, 2015 12:44pm

CHICAGO — A North Center man died several weeks after being shot while driving a car in West Garfield Park, authorities said.

The incident occurred at 5:25 a.m. on May 31 in the 3900 block of West Congress Parkway, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a police spokesman.

The 18-year-old driver was traveling west when a light-colored car pulled up and fired shots at the man.

The driver, later identified as Marsean Lofton of the 2500 block of West Montrose Avenue by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office, was dropped off by someone at Mount Sinai Hospital, Pacheco said.

Lofton was initially listed in "stable" condition after being shot in his shoulder and left forearm. He was later upgraded to critical and died at 7:39 a.m. on July 17 at Weiss Memorial Hospital.
