CHICAGO — A mobile classroom will bring computers to neighborhoods throughout the city this summer.

The Destination: Chicago van will operate in underserved neighborhoods, according to a news release from the mayor's office. Participants will be able to use the van's 20-30 computers and work with mentors to learn about coding, programming, fashion and graphic design and music and video production, according to the mayor's office.

“The Destination: Chicago Mobile Van is another step in bridging the gap in resources when it comes to the education of our children,” said Park District Superintendent Michael Kelly, according to the news release. “We keep kids active at summer camp, but we will also keep them learning.”

The van will go to festivals and special events over the weekends and schools and Park District camps on weekdays. It will be at Bryn Mawr Church in South Shore on Tuesdays, Garfield Park on Wednesdays and Ping Tom Park in Chinatown on Thursdays. Aldermen and community groups can also request the van visit a spot, according to the mayor's office.
