DUNNING — Ald. Nicholas Sposato (38th) will host an event Saturday to give residents of Portage Park and Dunning a chance to meet — and embrace — officers from the Jefferson Park Police District.

Sposato, who declared Saturday to be Police Appreciation Day in the 38th Ward, said the event is designed to give residents a chance to "hug a cop" and thank them for their service to the community.

Officers on horseback — as well as K9 units — will be on hand for the event scheduled to take place from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the 38th Ward office, 3821 N. Harlem Ave.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase from the event's sponsors, Mr. Beef, Mario's Hotdog Stand and The Brewery.
