BEVERLY — A south suburban man has been charged with theft for stealing copper downspouts from two Beverly homes, police said.

Douglas J. Flannigan, 44, of Blue Island was arrested Saturday after an investigation by police in the Morgan Park District revealed he stole downspouts from a home in the 10400 block of South Oakley Avenue in Beverly on June 16 and another home in the 8800 block of South Pleasant Avenue in Beverly between 10 a.m. June 14 and 7 p.m. June 21, police said.

Flannigan was arrested about 8:20 a.m. in the 1200 block of West 82nd Street in Auburn Gresham and charged with two felony counts of theft, police said.

Police later learned Flannigan was wanted on a warrant for larceny.

Police issued a community alert on June 24 warning Beverly residents of copper downspouts being swiped from eight homes in June.
