CHICAGO — Two men from Jefferson City, Mo., were shot and killed in Auburn Gresham early Sunday, police said.

Around 6:10 a.m., the two men, 25 and 31, were sitting inside a Chevrolet SUV in the 8000 block of South Bishop Street when a man walked up and opened fire, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The men then drove away and crashed into a building in the 1600 block of West 89th Street, Estrada said.

John L. Hunter, 25, was shot multiple times and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead at 7 a.m. Willie Hunter, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:25 a.m., officials said.

It was unknown whether the 31-year-old died from gunshot wounds or injuries from the crash, police said.
