Heart of Chicago Man Charged for Shooting Gun in Police Standoff Incident

CHICAGO — A Heart of Chicago man has been charged with shooting a gun in an occupied building during an incident where he barricaded himself in a home, police said.

Piotr Topor, 64, of the 2100 block of West 18th Street, is charged with one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm in an occupied building. The incident occurred 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 2100 block of West 21st Street, according to police.

Officer Jose Estrada, Chicago Police spokesman, said officers received a call about Topor having a gun in a home in the 2100 block of West 21st Street. When they responded, Topor barricaded himself in the home, Estrada said.

Topor surrendered about 4 p.m., Estrada said.
