Man Killed in Roseland Shooting Sunday Afternoon Identified

CHICAGO — A 21-year-old man killed in a shooting on the South Side Sunday afternoon has been identified, officials said.

Martell Smith, of the 300 block of West 104th Street, was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Around 2 p.m., Smith was shot in his head in the 9900 block of South State Street in Roseland, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Roseland Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Lemmon said.

No further information was available.

Also Sunday afternoon in Rogers Park, a man was in good condition after being shot in his leg.
