CHICAGO — A 32-year-old man has died after he was shot early Saturday in Back of the Yards, police said.

The man was a passenger in a car at 3:40 a.m. in the 4500 block of South Hermitage Avenue when a person in an SUV fired at the car, said Officer Janel Sedevic, Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The victim, who was struck on the left side of his body, was driven to University of Illinois Hospital and was later pronounced dead, Sedevic said.

No one is in custody for the shooting, Sedevic said.

The victim was a documented gang member, police said.
