CHICAGO — A 38-year-old man was shot early Saturday in Austin, police said.

The man was walking on the sidewalk at 2:40 a.m. in the 200 block of South Laramie Avenue when a man walked up to him and shot at him, said Officer Janel Sedevic, Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was shot in his upper right thigh and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in stable condition, Sedevic said.

No one is in custody for the shooting, Sedevic said.

The victim is a documented gang member, according to police.
