Burglars Hit 13 Businesses on Near West Side, Police Say

NEAR WEST SIDE — Chicago Police are warning Near West Side businesses about a string of burglaries in June.

In total, 13 businesses have been burglarized in less than three weeks. The businesses are in the University Village, Tri-Taylor, West Town and Near West Side neighborhoods.

In the incidents, someone breaks the front window of the business and steals the cash register before leaving. The incidents have occurred late at night or early in the morning

Burglaries have been reported at the following locations: 

• 1100 block of West Taylor Street in University Village at 9 p.m. Wednesday

• 2400 block of West Chicago Avenue in West Town at 2 a.m. Saturday

• 2600 block of West Washington Boulevard on Near West Side at 10 p.m. June 19

• 2500 block of West Chicago Avenue in West Town at 1 a.m. June 14

• 1700 block of West Grand Avenue in West Town at 4:30 a.m. June 14 

• 1900 block of West Chicago Avenue in West Town at 1 a.m. June 13

• First block of South Ashland Avenue on Near West Side at 4 a.m. June 10

• 1600 block of West Ogden Avenue on Near West Side at 12:30 a.m. June 9

• 2500 block of West Augusta Boulevard in West Town at 11:30 p.m. June 8

• 200 block of North Ashland Avenue on Near West Side at 9:45 p.m. June 7

• 1900 block of West Chicago Avenue in West Town at 11 p.m. June 6

• 900 block of South Western Avenue in Tri-Taylor at 4 a.m. June 6

• 1300 block of West Grand Avenue in West Town at 6 a.m. June 6
