FOREST GLEN — The best way to follow up a breakfast of soul food?

A 15-mile bicycle ride, of course.

Bike 45 organizer Alice O'Laughlin — who came to Chicago from Virginia — credits Mother Cluckers Kitchen in Forest Glen with offering the best hush puppy she's tasted since moving north of the Mason-Dixon line 19 years ago.

"What better way to start a bike ride than with a stomach full of chicken and waffles and hot coffee?" O'Laughlin said.

Mother Clucker's, 5200 N. Elston Ave., which opened in December 2014, now offers breakfast in addition to lunch and dinner.

Breakfast will start at 7:30 a.m., and the ride will begin at 9 a.m., organizers said.

Ald. John Arena (45th) founded Bike 45 to promote biking and bike safety in Jefferson Park and parts of Portage Park, Gladstone Park, Old Irving Park, Norwood Park and Forest Glen.

Bicyclists of all ages are welcome to ride, but children younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult and adult riders may accompany no more than 3 children per adult rider.
