Man Dies of Natural Causes While Sailing on Lake Michigan, Officials Say

CHICAGO — A 56-year-old Armour Square man died of natural causes while on a boat in Lake Michigan Friday, according to autopsy results.

Around 12:45 p.m., Luke G. Condic was on a sailboat five miles from shore when died from a heart condition, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Initial reports from the Chicago Police Department indicated that Condic was pulled out of the water by the CPD Marine Unit. An updated police report  Sunday afternoon showed he, in fact, did not fall into the lake, according to Office Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Condic, of the 3200 block of South Wells Street, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 1:26 p.m., the Medical Exainer's office said.

According to an autopsy report, Condic died from a heart condition.
