CHICAGO — There is a national day for everything these days. While we're a little baffled by "National Cherry Tart Day" and "National Catfish Day," we fully support National Doughnut Day, which is Friday.
Best thing about Doughnut Day? Aside from the fact that doughnuts are delicious, they are also being given away like whoa throughout the city Friday.

Huck Finn, 3414 S. Archer Ave.: Get a free doughnut with every to-go drink order. And no, not their famed giant doughnut.
Beavers Doughnuts, 131 N. Clinton St.: For Friday's premiere of the movie "Dope," which features doughnut shop-loving characters, Beavers is giving the first 100 customers at its truck free "Dope"-themed doughnuts: four vanilla buttermilk mini-doughnuts with strawberry sauce and candied sprinkles. DoorDash deliveries will also be 25 percent off.
West Town Bakery, 1916 W. Chicago Ave.: Get a free chocolate glazed doughnut with any large hot drink.
Glazed and Infused, various locations: Glazed has a bizarre Doughnut Day promotion. They're offering free "sprinkle shots" to customers. Which are literally just little cups of sprinkles. They are also bringing back their "legendary" Crème Brûlée doughnut for Friday only. That'll set you back $3, cheap-o. Oh, also if you post the best sprinkle shot pic and use the #sprinklewasted hashtag, you could win free doughnuts. It all comes full circle.
Dunkin' Donuts, everywhere: Dunkin is offering a free doughnut with every drink purchase at every location. So get ready for some lines, y'all.
Stan's Donuts and Coffee, 1560 N. Damen Ave. and 259 E. Erie St.: Snag a free doughnut with any beverage purchase at both Stan's locations Friday. The glazed is free, but you should get a lemon pistachio while you're there because they are magical.
Dat Donut, 8251 S. Cottage Grove and the 95th Street Red Line station: Dat Donut is offering a free doughnut with with the purchase of every beverage at both locations. This excludes Big Dats, cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, bowties and muffins.
Fritz Pastry, 2233 N. Lincoln Ave.: Bucking the trend, Fritz is offering free coffee with the purchase of a doughnut. We understand this is not the same thing as a free doughnut, but it's something free. They also say they'll be stocked with "paczki, cruller, long johns, cookie dough donuts, mini chocolate chip cake donuts, strawberry donuts, birthday cake, cinnamon sugar, and chocolate rolled in chocolate cake donuts - hot donut on donut action."
