CHICAGO — One man is dead and at least seven others were wounded in shootings across the city since Monday afternoon, police said.

In Humboldt Park, a 23-year-old man was approached by a gunman who fired shots in his direction, striking him in his head and chest and killing him. In Rogers Park, two men were wounded, one critically, in separate shootings.

• Most recently, a 22-year-old woman was shot in her head in the 8100 block of South Princeton Avenue in Chatham at 7:43 p.m., said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The woman was in serious condition, Sweeney said.

No further information was available.

• In West Garfield Park, a 16-year-old boy was in the 200 block of North Karlov Avenue when he was shot in his leg at 5:09 p.m., Sweeney said.

The teenager was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition.

• Three hours earlier in West Garfield Park, just a block away, a 28-year-old man was shot in his head in the 100 block of North Karlov Avenue, Sweeney said.

Around 2 p.m., witnesses heard several shots and when they looked outside they saw a man lying on the ground, Sweeney said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, Sweeney said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• Around 11:40 a.m. in Austin, two men, 20 and 28, were shot in the 700 block of North Long Avenue, Sweeney said.

The 20-year-old was shot in his upper left arm and the 28-year-old was shot in his right hand. Both men were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where they were listed in good condition, Sweeney said.
