CHICAGO — A 27-year-old man was shot during an attempted robbery in Dunning late Tuesday, police said.

Around 10:20 p.m., the man was sitting with a woman in a car in an alley in the 7400 block of West Irving Park Road when two men approached and tried to rob them, said Officer Stacey Cooper, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

During the robbery, the man was shot in his right leg. He was taken to Lutheran General Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Cooper said.

The robbers ran off without taking anything and no one is in custody, Cooper said.
