Riot Fest Ticket Refunds Available Through Monday Due to Douglas Park Move

NORTH LAWNDALE — Riot Fest will offer full refunds through Monday to ticketholders who aren't moved by the festival's move from Humboldt to Douglas Park.

Full refunds will be offered until Monday. The lineup is set to be announced sometime next week, according to Riot Fest, so don't count on being able to opt out if it's announced that Nickelback is headlining. (jk)

"We are very confident that Douglas Park will be a great fit for the fest, and we are working hard to bring you the best festival we can," Riot Fest organizers wrote in an email to ticketholders. "All tickets previously purchased will be honored at the new venue. For those that can no longer attend because of this change, we are offering full refunds until Monday, May 25, 2015."

Riot Fest is offering refunds for a limited time to those who don't approve of the venue switch.

To get a refund, email customersupport@ticketfly.com with your name and confirmation number.

Tickets bought via standard mail tickets have a few more steps: Refunders must write "void" across the tickets and their barcodes, tear them in half so the barcode is broken and photograph the tickets with the order number and barcode numbers visible. The photo must then be emailed to Ticketfly for a refund.

The festival announced the move to Douglas Park, which is less than three miles away from Humboldt Park, on Wednesday after weeks of rising tensions. Ald. Roberto Maldonado (26th) vowed to keep Riot Fest from setting up in Humboldt Park while community members were divided over the issue, and organizers fought to stay.

Douglas Park sits on 218 acres from Roosevelt Road to 19th Street and California Avenue to Albany Avenue. Some local residents said they think Douglas Park is a good location for the music festival.

"It's all right with me. They bring everything else here. They might as well. There isn't much they can tear up over here. Plus, it's a good location, right next to the police station," neighbor John Wilkinson said Wednesday.
