BEVERLY — Neil Byers of Beverly has advanced to the final four, and it has nothing to do with basketball.

The owner of Horse Thief Hollow is among the four finalists for the 2015 James Tyree Emerging Business Leadership Award.

The brew pub at 10426 S. Western Ave. in Beverly was named among the top 12 businesses vying for the award on April 22 by the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce.

Ald. Matt O'Shea's office received word that Byers progressed to the final four on Thursday afternoon.

The field originally began with 70 applicants, and contestants were eliminated in a "Shark Tank"-style competition.

The winner will receive $25,000 as well as recognition for operating a high-growth small business that "best represents the spirit and values of the late Chicagoland Chairman and business leader James Tyree."

A private panel of judges will convene later this month to evaluate the remaining finalists with face-to-face interviews, an official in the alderman's office said.

The winner will be announced at the Chicagoland Chamber’s annual meeting on June 9 at Navy Pier.
