CHICAGO — A 19-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in West Rogers Park early Friday morning, police said.

Around 1:30 a.m., the man was walking on the sidewalk in the 6400 block of North Leavitt Street when he saw two men emerge from a gangway and fire shots, said Officer Stacey Cooper, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He was shot in his right thigh and taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston where his condition had stabilized, Cooper said.

According to police, the man is a documented gang member.
